Kate Kohn-Parrott Activating Regional Healthcare TransformationThe Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC) is a multi-stakeholder regional coalition. We bring together stakeholders in our community, at a single table, to address health care quality, access and cost in southeastern Michigan. As a health care leader that is recognized regionally and nationally, GDAHC works with everyone who gets care, gives care and pays for care to lift the quality of overall care in the community. Through partnership and collaboration, we develop and implement innovative programs and activities. We are helping physicians improve the quality of care they provide. We are helping improve care inside hospitals. We are educating people about how they can become better partners with their physicians. We are working to reduce inequality in care for patients. We are helping to increase access to care. Recognizing that in order for real change to occur, all stakeholders must participate in the process. GDAHC members are diverse and represent a broad stakeholder constituency -- from business to health care providers to educational institutions to consumer agencies. GDAHC is a Chartered Value Exchange (a federal distinction of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces for Quality community, one of 17 across the nation. Our national and regional leadership role provides the leverage that is needed to transform healthcare so that it touches everyone who gets care, gives care and pays for care.
