Activating Regional Healthcare Transformation

The Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC) is a multi-stakeholder regional coalition.  We bring together stakeholders in our community, at a single table, to address health care quality, access and cost in southeastern Michigan.

As a health care leader that is recognized regionally and nationally, GDAHC works with everyone who gets care, gives care and pays for care to lift the quality of overall care in the community.

Through partnership and collaboration, we develop and implement innovative programs and activities.  We are helping physicians improve the quality of care they provide.  We are helping improve care inside hospitals.  We are educating people about how they can become better partners with their physicians.  We are working to reduce inequality in care for patients.  We are helping to increase access to care.

Recognizing that in order for real change to occur, all stakeholders must participate in the process.  GDAHC members are diverse and represent a broad stakeholder constituency -- from business to health care providers to educational institutions to consumer agencies.

GDAHC is a Chartered Value Exchange (a federal distinction of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services) and a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Aligning Forces for Quality community, one of 17 across the nation.  Our national and regional leadership role provides the leverage that is needed to transform healthcare so that it touches everyone who gets care, gives care and pays for care.

WHAT'S NEW!

GDAHC to Hold Payment Reform Summit

On Thursday, February 2, 2012, the Greater Detroit Area Health Council, in collaboration with AIAG (Automotive Industry Action Group), the Healthcare Value Task Force and the Detroit Regional Chamber, will be holding a one-day, invitation-only Payment Reform Summit to build consensus among southeast Michigan healthcare, business, and civic leaders on the kind of healthcare payment systems and health plan benefit designs we need to support high-quality, affordable healthcare in our region.

What we are organizing on February 2 will not be a typical “conference,” but rather a working meeting that will bring together the leaders of the organizations who are critical to making any kind of change successful – physicians, business leaders, hospital executives, health plan leaders, and consumer representatives – in order to reach consensus on how payment systems, benefit designs, and delivery systems need to change in a way that will work for all stakeholders in the southeast Michigan region. We will talk about the changes we want to make over the next several years and what we collectively need to do to accomplish those changes.

This is an invitation-only event. For event information, please contact Lisa Mason, Program Manager of Cost Quality, at lmason@gdahc.org or at (313) 596-0811.
